2007 ISRI Convention Registration on Track for Another Record-Setting Event

April 18 - 21, 2007
Sheraton New Orleans and Ernest N. Morial Convention Center
New Orleans

Registration for the 2007 ISRI Convention and Exposition continues to track ahead of last year's record-breaking attendance, said Chuck Carr, ISRI's Vice President for Member Services, Marketing and Communications. The industry's largest convention and tradeshow is set to be held in New Orleans April 18 - 21, 2007.

"Registration figures show this will definitely be one of ISRI's largest conventions in history," Carr said. "The networking opportunities, the programming, and the equipment and service displays offered at ISRI's convention make the event a don't-miss program for the industry.”

The 2007 Convention will also kick off a year of celebrations as ISRI recognizes the organization's 20th Anniversary. ISRI was formed in 1987 with the merger of the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel (ISIS) and the National Association of Recycling Industries (NARI).

For the third year in a row, ISRI's exhibition hall has sold out despite significant growth. The 2007 Expo will be held in Halls E & F at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and will feature over 150 companies displaying everything from the latest software applications to heavy equipment.

More than 30 Convention workshops will provide information and professional development for the industry with topics that cover areas like trade, finance, technology, and many more. A sample of programs include:

  • Trade and emerging markets in Vietnam and Brazil;
  • ISRI's Safety Blueprint process and a look at successful safety programs;
  • steel indexing and price transparency;
  • a Superfund survival guide and stormwater management.

For the second year, ISRI will offer a complete Electronics Recycling Business program that features six workshop sessions beginning on April 20. The convention also offers "Just for Fun" programming, including digital photography and antiquing workshops as well as a trip to the famous New Orleans School of Cooking. The complete program is available at www.isriconvention.org/2007/convention_preview_book.pdf.
